Dr. Fulton D. Lewis III
Dr. Fulton D. Lewis III is a native of Darlington, South Carolina. He attended Clemson University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Dr. Lewis then attended the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, from which he received the degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine. He did a two-year residency in general dentistry at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, where his primary focus was oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Lewis then completed a four-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Hospital of St. Raphael and Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. Both medical centers are teaching hospitals for the Yale University School of Medicine.
Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Lewis moved to Beaufort, South Carolina, where he was in private practice for almost five years before joining Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates in April 2003. Dr. Lewis is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (Board Certified). Dr. Lewis is also a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Georgia Dental Association, the Georgia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the South Carolina Dental Association, and the South Carolina Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Lewis has been well trained in the surgical and related treatment of diseases, injuries and deformities involving both the functional and esthetic aspects of the mouth, teeth, gums and jaws. Dr. Lewis is devoted to providing quality care for his patients, both children and adults, through proper diagnosis and effective treatment.
